Get to know Cornelius’s Captain’s Point neighborhood

Captain’s Point in Cornelius is a lovely neighborhood nestled in a cove just north of West Catawba Avenue near I-77 and adjacent to the Blue Stone Harbor community.

Captain’s Point is made up of just 3 streets, accessible via the Trintella Lane causeway from Blue Stone Harbor.

The neighborhood is very convenient to major thoroughfares, and I-77 access is less than a mile away. It is roughly 11 miles south to I-485, and just 9 miles further south to the metro Charlotte area.

There are no shortage of amenities within walking distance or a short drive from Captain’s Point. Across Knox Road are The Shops on the Green and The Fresh Market, where you can find everyday necessities and grab a bite to eat.

More shopping and dining is fewer than 4 miles south in Birkdale Village and the surrounding area along Sam Furr Road.

The Lake Norman area also has a variety of parks and green spaces to enjoy, both inland and along the water. Just south of Captain’s Point are Ramsey Creek and Jetton parks. For the golfers in the family, the public Birkdale Golf Club and private Peninsula Club are the most convenient courses.

All of Lake Norman’s beautiful shoreline is just a boat ride away from your personal slip. Holiday Marina and the Rusty Rudder restaurant are on the way out of the cove for gassing up or grabbing food, drink and listening to live music.

Captain’s Point features waterfront and interior homes. Neighborhood amenities include a deeded boat slip for each home. Though the neighborhoods connect, Blue Stone Harbor does not share its amenities with Captain’s Point.

The homes in the neighborhood, which primarily were built by Ryland Homes, are 2,000 square feet and larger on lots of 0.2 of an acre to nearly 0.5 of an acre. Ryland-built homes are priced in the mid- to high-$300,000s.
