15 Student Bands from Mooresville’s Elevate Rock School to perform
Summer has unofficially started, and countless concerts, festivals, and events are planned for the Lake Norman area. A much-anticipated concert by the students of Elevate Rock School is scheduled for June 26.
Elevate Rock School, which opened in December in Mooresville, offers a unique approach to music education. Students, ranging in age from three to eighteen years old, combines traditional music instruction with an added live band performance element. The Mooresville location is the second for the school, which was founded in Fargo, North Dakota in 2011. Seventy-five students are currently enrolled.
Enrolled students have the opportunity to study piano, guitar, vocals, or drums. Summer camps for all ages, with fees ranging from $69 to $99, are currently accepting applications. Stage presence and confidence are as much a part of the curriculum as learning to read music.
“Rock the Lake 2017” will take place on Thursday, June 26 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at The Cove Church on Langtree Road. It is free and open to the public. Backstage passes are available. The set list will be comprised of familiar classic rock and pop tunes and a few original songs written by the students.
